Web Feast Friday: Rawmageddon Begins

Friday the First can mean only one thing:  RAWMAGEDDON has begun!  Our first 30 Day Challenge went surprising well as we managed to post almost every day during January.  We missed a couple of days, but definitely feel pretty confident that we can continue our streak.  Now that February has begun, 30 Day Challenge #2 has begun in which we eat raw every meal, every day.  Day 1 is in the books with juices, smoothies, nuts, and salads dominating the menu.  We have some interesting recipes queued up for a few occasions and look forward to sharing some of these with our faithful readers.  In the meantime, we leave you with some great ideas for your Super Bowl Sunday festivities!

Anything that’s vegan AND fully loaded has to be good.  Right?

Sunday brunch idea to get primed for the big game!

CUPCAKES!!

For those of you taking on Rawmageddon with us, add this to your Big Game must-cook list.

I’ve ask myself this question so many times.  Now I have an answer.

If you haven’t liked any ideas thus far, here’s a whole list of ideas to help you write your Super Bowl menu.

Here’s the “big game” I’m really looking forward to this weekend.  J-Pow!!

I couldn’t help myself.  I had to end things with some more BTnH.

Web Feast Friday: Sunday Edition

As you may or may not have noticed, our streak of blogging came to an end on Friday, January 25.  I am actually impressed that we made it that long considering the whirlwind of adventures and funtivities we have been engaging in over the last couple of weeks. We spent this past weekend relaxing, skiing, cooking, and imbibing with our dear friends in Sunriver, Oregon.  I’m blaming our streak coming to an end on a fun-friend-filled weekend.  Best.Excuse.Ever.

Mountains, outdoor activities, and wildlife. Sounds like a damn good time to me!

We forgot our camera back at the cabin, so this isn’t actually depicting our day. Add in icy snow and 25 mph winds, and you get the idea.

We had actually been saving up lots of great links to share on Friday, so we figured why not get “caught up” with our blog posts by cranking out some bonus posts on Sunday.  This Webfeast is dedicated to our weekend in Sunriver and will definitely get us back on track and prep us for our next 30 Day Challenge which is our Raw February!

After this past weekend, a detox is definitely in order!

Feeling a little acidic?  We definitely are.

We’re in the process of writing our Super Bowl party menu.  These might make the cut.

A new obsession.

We’re in the market.  Anyone have any recommendations or reviews to share?

This came in handy after a long day on the hill.  Vegan and GF!!

Web Feast Friday

I don’t mean to toot our own horn, but we are on 18 days and counting on our 2013 resolution to blog every day. We’ve even accomplished one of our 2013 resolutions by hitting the 100 post mark on the blog.  This may not seem like a great feat to those seasoned bloggers,  but coming from a couple folks who can justify doing/not doing many things, we continue to amaze ourselves!  We’ve found a routine that is keeping us on track, and we are definitely taking plenty of pictures and cooking delicious foods that will definitely make an appearance on the blog.  This weeks Feast includes links and lists that can help create routines, or provide ideas to incorporate into your current routine.

Kick your morning off with any and all of these AM activities.

Let’s all commit to this list for 2013!

Lot’s of Top 10 lists always get kicked around this time of year.  This top 15 list is 5 better.

So true.  So true.

For those of you joining us for “Raw February,” here’s some helpful tools.

For those of you still looking to detox from the holidays, or adopting a more detoxifying lifestyle, here’s some tips.

This recipe has Sunday dinner written all over it!

Actually, I’m making this on Sunday.  This too.

This song just popped up while we were watching Girls, and I totally forgot how great of a jam it is!

Web Feast Friday

It finally feels like winter here in the Pacific NW, and we have a brand new dusting of snow on  the hills throughout the valley.  We’re eleven days into the year, and still holding strong to our commitment/resolution of blogging every day!  We have lots of great ideas for posts, and lots of great recipes and stories to share.  We also have some exciting adventures on the horizon that are sure to create even more blog fodder. Snowshoeing is on the agenda this weekend, along with a little wine tour.  In the meantime, sit back and relax the second installment of Web Feast Friday for 2013!

Simple.  Easy.  Indian flavors.  Love it!

For those of you who want to go raw with us next month, here’s a recipe to bookmark.

The EPL household is a big fan of savory waffles.  These just made the cut for Sunday brunch.

Health vegan Twix bars?

We’re everywhere!!!!

We’re hosting a vegan Super Bowl party this year, and you KNOW this will be served!

Lot’s of recipes this week means lots of cooking and baking is taking place.  One such cooking escapade involves a shopping trip to the Asian market, no real plan, and $100 in groceries.  Stay tuned for that story!

We leave you with some winter running inspiration and motivation.  Play outside this weekend and cook some good food.

Monday Meal Planz

1

The first Monday of 2013 got us thinking about some kind of themed day.  We already have Web Feast Fridays, and from time to time, we’ll post on Souper Sunday.  Why not add another topic to provide us with a little guidance and inspiration while tackling our “365 Days of Blogging” goal.

Actually, I am pretty sure that some of our favorite blogs actually post meal and menu planning-style posts on Mondays, and I’m confident that ours will absolutely reflect our current cooking passions/interests/obsessions.  Whether you end up planning your weekly menu around this post or not is entirely up to you.  At the very least, we hope you find something interestingly tasty to share with friends and family at some point during the week.

Those of you still in detox mode will love this!  I never thought of this combination, but I love all these ingredients equally on their own!

Our raw adventure begins next month, so in the meantime, I plan on preparing this at least once before then.

Anything hickory-smoked served with tator tots will ALWAYS earn a spot on the blog!

We love this blog and you will love this recipe!

Easy + Glazed = Mealtime

What would a Meal Plan be without ‘zerts!

Keep the comments and feedback coming!  We appreciate everything you are willing to share with us.  Since we plan on posting each and every day of 2013, we will present you with plenty of chances!  Thanks for reading!

Web Feast Friday

1

Welcome to the final Web Feast Friday of Vegan Mofo!  Getting involved with Vegan Mofo, and participating along side some of our vegan blogger role models/celebrities has been a tremendous honor and inspirational experience.  Instead of posting random bits from around the internets, I thought I would post some recent highlights from some of our most favorite vegan bloggers.  The following peeps provide us with many recipes, much inspiration, and a network of passionate and enthusiastic advocates for all things vegan.  If you don’t have these folks bookmarked or queued up on your RSS feed, start clickin’!!!!!

–  Post Punk Kitchen was one of the first vegan blogs we started following.  Their forum alone is a great resource for recipes and menu ideas.

–  Vegansaurus single handedly planned the eating/dining schedule for our recent San Fran vaca.  This is a great blog for news, reviews, and the occasional profanity-laced post.  A true inspiration!

–  Will Travel for Vegan Food started out as a Kickstarter campaign, and is now a favorite read of EPL.  Who wouldn’t want to just travel around the U.S., eat vegan food in new and interesting places, and write about it.  That what dreams are made of folks.

–  Hipsterfood combines vegan food with artsy pics and Wes Anderson-ish fonts to create one of our favorite food photography sites.  They also publish Chickpea Vegan Quarterly which is our favorite quarterly vegan publication.

–  Nobody does vegan dessert quite like Chocolate Covered Katie!

–  For those of you who dabble in the raw vegan lifestyle, I give you Choosing Raw.  Plenty of great salad, juice, and smoothie recipes to help you get your raw on!

–  Last but certainly not least, Happy Herbivore.  Lindsay and Happy Herbivore are an institution when it comes to cooking, eating, and living a vegan lifestyle.  Her blog, along with the HH cookbooks, will continue to be an inspirational guide for our Sunday brunches, holiday dinners, and blogging exploits.

In true Web Feast fashion, we leave you with this Black Lips/Rza from Wu Tang Clan gem:

Web Feast: R-rated and Vegan Mofo Approved!

I’ve been wasting loads of time this week – which means good news for Web Feast and bad news for….who am I kidding, I have no kids or any real responsibilities that can’t be put off until after I’m done procrastinating on my core responsibilities like making money, using the bathroom, and posting this blog.

Evan usually does the Friday posts, but has too much homework tonight so you get me again (he is all done this weekend…WOOHOO!) So because I both love him AND am slightly bitter that I don’t get this one day off of posting, I am dedicating this crazy R-rated but hilarious video that would usually get turned down to him. P.S. not work/home/child/my mom appropriate (seriously mom, don’t watch this – you will be offended by the number of swear words.) P.S.S. As my gift to Evan when he graduates tomorrow, we will playing this same little make-up game. Congrats babe – and you’re welcome.

I must not be an Ultra Runner because I don’t know what half of these mean – test your own Ultra Running knowledge

Not sure what to read after finishing Twilight, Hunger Games, and 50 Shades? Use this sweet site to decide what book you should read next.

I love when I can say that I drank a power smoothie for breakfast, but I secretly know I ate pure sugar and pumpkin. Screw it – it’s October.

Eating veggies doesn’t have to be expensive. Eat cheap my friends.

TOTALLY found my new obsession – a trendy BnB search site. Did you know you can rent out supped up airstreams for the same price as the Marriott? Yes please. (Thanks Brad for the tip!)

I have been listening to this album non-stop. Not only is the band amazing, but anytime I get the chance to act out my secret fantasy of being a sassy black singer, I take it! I am totally jealous of all the people who pull up next to me whilst in a fit of Tina Turner gyration.

Web Feast Friday: Vegan Mofo 2012

So far so good!  We are now 12 days into our first Vegan Mofo as participants, and have kept up our pledge of posting every single day in October!  Thanks for all the views, comments, and feedback over the last couple of weeks.  We really appreciate the support and look forward to continuing our quest to deliver our impassioned vegan content with even more humor, sarcasm, and plant-based love.  We leave you with another edition of Web Feast Friday:  Vegan Mofo 2012.

Fall means cooler weather, soup, and string-based jams:

Sauerkraut and mushrooms just happen to be my two favorite foods.  Jackpot!!

I couldn’t remember if I had posted these before, but with new flavors available, it seemed like a good idea.  These have fueled many long runs and bike rides.  Vegan power food by some super cool folks from TX!

Saturdays used to be college football day.  Now this is what I look forward to!

Curry kale balls.  Yes please.

Good thing about my office is everyone thinks I’m crazy when I drink this.

We’ve mentioned many times that brunch is our favorite meal.  What’s brunch without muffins?

Mad respect and best of luck to all the athletes toeing the line in Kona tomorrow.

Web Feast Friday: Day 5 Vegan Mofo Edition

Vegan Mofo 2012 is off and rolling, and after following many of these fantastic bloggers for several years, it feels damn good to be a part of the action this year.  We have lots of great stuff to share, and have several recipes ready to go as well.  In the meantime, welcome to the weekend and enjoy this week’s FEAST!!!

Fall soundtracks must include lots of Mountain Goats tunes

If you haven’t subscribed yet, do yourself a favor and get a subscription to Chickpea. Artsy vegan food at it’s best!

Cold season is on its way.  Use these fall recipes to prep your bod!

Best-of vegan books in 2012.  Amazon.com is waiting for you!  Might I recommend this one?

Throw some some cash at this Kickstarter.com campaign.

I have to admit, I made all these mistakes after making the move to a plant-based diet.

Simple kale salads are a staple at the EPL house.

How can you not want to drink a pie-flavored smoothie?

Catch you tomorrow for Vegan Mofo Day 6!
